Week 12, Lesson 27: The End

I would like for this program to have something that relates to working with different ethnicities. Like it would be nice to teach staff members who speak different languages to download programs that let’s us type and read in our language on our computer. I know there are online sites that let’s you download them and then we could email in our own language without having to try to type in english or having to type without accents. The program has covered alot and I don’t know what else to add because I feel like it covered everything I need to know using the internet. Thank you very much.

Week 12, Lesson 26: Tell Us What You Think

This program has let me look at other different things on the web. I just barely started learning how to use the computer to do basic things like email and posting up pictures, but this program has teach me lots of different things that I can also do online. I like the lessons with the youtube and flickr because those were interesting to do. Almost everything was new to me so it surprise me alot on how to learn the new lessons and do them. My daughter was a great help to me as she was helping here with me doing this by my side. This program has too much reading in some activities so it took me a long time to do and understand, but even some of them I don’t fully understand yet because it was hard for me to read alot. Maybe you should shorten some writings. I wouldn’t mind seeing similar training for the library as long as it is interesting and motivating. I don’t know much about the web yet so I don’t know what else I would like to see. If I were to go back in time I would participate in this program because it is very beneficial.

Week 11, Lesson 25: Something to do with MP3 Player

This site was hard for me because I don’t know much english titles of books or songs that I wanted to look for. I like to listen to vietnamese music and read vietnamese language type books. So I think this site would be hard and not very interesting for people who are fluent in another language.

Week 11, Lesson 24: Podcast

There is a lot to look at and read. I don’t really understand everything but I think it is like a voice recording of news or something for people to listen to and people use it to post online for people to hear. I’m not sure how the library would use this yet, but I would like to test podcasting for fun sometime.

Week 11, Lesson 23: Video in the Post-Betamax World

I like youtube because my daughter shows me some really funny and interesting clips sometimes from youtube. I think youtube will be helpful to the library because we can post videos about our library events online. Some people post interesting things that happened to them at certain places, maybe we can do something similar for the library by showing what co workers do to help out the library.

I have a clip to show:

Week 11 Lesson 22: Choose Your Own Adventure

For the Web 2.0 I chose the game section since I am interested in games online. The number one was Arcaplay http://arcaplay.com/. I’m not sure if this site is going to help the library but it would definitely be fun for the children. Maybe we might be able to have a game programmer from the library staff make games for children to play and learn from.

For Webware, I chose digital photography since I like to take pictures and share them with my family. So I chose http://www.picnik.com/ . It is new but it let’s us edit our photos online. It is very useful. I think this would be another thing to show on the project for “27 Things” for library staff to do. It is better than just uploading photos.

Week 10, Lesson 21 – The Labs of Google

Google Labs have a lot of cool and useful tools under development, but the one I like the most is Google Transit. I tried some of it features and got very accurate results. I would definitely use this tool for future travel planning or Spare-The-Air days.

Week 10, Lesson 20 – Online Productivity Software

I personally think on-line Productivity software like Google Docs is one of the best tools developed. Even though I ran into a little problem uploading my sample file (for some reason, I kept getting the same error uploading both excel and html file), I ended up creating a new file then cut & paste the info into it. The rest of the procedures was very easy and intuitive

Week 9 Lesson 19: Library 2.0

I like the library 2.0 activity because people can do it at the comfort of their own home when they cannot get a chance to go to the library, but I still think that going to the library experience is better. It is a good thing to make library activities and experiences on the internet because it gives new experience that a lot of people will enjoy. There are a lot of interesting things with the Library 2.0 and I hope other people will learn to enjoy them as well. But sometimes, I like to traditionally go to the library for the feel and experience of it. I like the real thing rather than looking through the internet sometimes.

I never heard of Rollyo before, but I think its a good tool. I noticed that it uses Yahoo search engine and add its own features that allow users to customize their search.

Google is a number one search engine, but I myself have been using Yahoo for long time and feel it meets all my needs for most of the time. Therefore I am not going to register with them (for now).

If anyone wants to try out new search tools here are the links for Rollyo & Google
